Waterside Gym
Waterside Gym was established in 1990 and has been running successfully since then despite having various owners over the years. Waterside Gym is also a well established Ballet Centre run by Helen Wilman School of Dance. We offer a wide range of activities so that we can cater for all members of the community. We have very able and approachable instructors, all fully qualified, who are always at hand if you need anything.

All full members are entitled to as many sessions they feel they need with a qualified instructor, focusing on fitness, strength and flexibility as well as reviewing progress. Whatever your ability or experience, we will tailor an exercise programme to meet your individual needs. We can also advise on nutrition and weight management. Children from age 13 can join the gym with parental consent and supervision until they are 15.

Attending a gym regularly can help greatly with health, physical and mental but also with addictions. My name is John Gillen, I'm a former alcohol addict who now directs one of the UK's leading residential rehab centres.
Services
Pilates emphasizes balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient and graceful movement.
The core muscles are the deep internal muscles of the abdomen and back.
When the core muscles are strong and doing their job, as they are trained to do in Pilates, they work in tandem with the more superficial muscles of the trunk to support the spine and movement.
This is one of the ways Pilates helps people overcome back pain.
The Jazz class is modern dance/Jazz dance for young people between 8 and 18 years old.
Our membership structure is designed to allow you as much flexibility as possible.
We try to cater for all of you and if you don't see the membership that might suit you, please ask us about it as we may well be able to accommodate you.
We are often asked if you do family memberships/couples memberships.
We don't for a number of reasons.
Very difficult to administer.
Families vary in size and fluctuate (couples don't vary in size but do fluctuate too) and it is a nightmare to get it right.
All other memberships require you to know how to use the gym.
You choose the membership you want and fill in a health questionnaire (unless you are coming for a day).
You may start training straight away but if you need an induction, then you book one and come in your gym gear.
We expect young people of 13 to 15 to do cardio only and maybe start weights once they have had a further review with an instructor.
We then book you in for an induction.
No you don't.
You can do classes without being a member.
The classes system is a bit complicated because some classes are run by independent instructors who hire the studio from us whereas others are run by our own instructors.
