Emperors Gym is part of the Middletons Hotel, and the longest-running health club in York.
Established in 1991 we're proud of our history and great character, keeping many of the buildings original features in the gym, but bringing a fresh and modern quality to our spaces.
It was built in the early 19th century as part of the industrial revolution.
As the name suggests, it was a fully functioning wood mill, taking deliveries from Emperors Wharf of timber from the forests of Northern Europe via the river Ouse.

We've updated our changing rooms - they're modern and fresh with all the accessories you need including hairdryers and seats, mirrors, showers and lockers.
We have a clean and modern layout to make it even easier for you to start and end your gym session the right way.
A variety of spaces are available from our cardio room with cardiovascular machines and resistance machines, to the weights & free weights room including a range of dumbbells ranging from 1kg to 55kg and plates starting at 1.25kg to 25kg.
